Delos International is excited to announce its newest partnership with cellist extraordinaire Zuill Bailey and Simone Dinnerstein: Complete Beethoven Works for Piano and Cello - Volume 1. This important and timely release includes the first three sonatas for Piano and Cello Op.5 Nos.1 & 2, and Op No.69, No. 3. This will be followed in the near future by Volume 2 - Sonatas 4 & 5 and three sets of variations.

The year marks the tenth anniversary of Bailey and Dinnerstein's creative collaboration. Both are known by classical consumers and music fans in general as consummate musicians with a flair for unusual and arresting interpretations. Zuill has established himself as one of the most sought-after and active cellists today. He has been noted in the press as a "titan of energy" whose playing is marked by "youthfulness, suppleness and grace."

Pianist Simone Dinnerstein is a charismatic and commanding performer of both solo and chamber music repertoire. Her playing "bursts with emotional and intellectual life."

Both artists tour extensively and have attracted major press attention. Bailey and Dinnerstein received the Sam Sanders Award for Excellence in Chamber Music at Carnegie Hall on October 10, 2006.

Celebrate with Delos the 80th Birthday of The King of Cellists - Janos Starker.

This live performance by the legendary cellist and his guests was captured at the February 28, 2004 El Paso Pro Musica festival concert honoring Starker and featuring the Boccherini String Quintet in C Major and the Schubert String Quintet in C Major. These works have a long and loving history for Starker, and he and his colleagues artfully weave the dual perspectives of youthful vitality and deep introspection into vibrant performances.

Both of these significant works also showcase the exceptional talents of world-renowned cellist Zuill Bailey who is also the guest producer of this important release. Janos Starker handpicked this program, and it is no accident that each piece features two cellos. Not only does this disc highlight Starker's talent and his beloved instrument, it also offers a symbolic passing of the torch to his younger colleagues and reveals his dedication to young talent.

Given that Janos Starker is performing less frequently, each of his concerts is an experience to be cherished. His purity of expression, pristine virtuosity and artistic integrity result in a sound and style that is instantly recognizable.
