Give your child a priceless gift for the intellect and for the spirit.... If you are looking for a way to enrich a child's early experiences, you could not do better than the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Bach's music is rich in qualities we have valued through the ages — faith, hope, and love for one's fellow man. These often-elusive qualties pervade Bach's beautiful, reassuring melodies, providing comfort to young and old. Bach's incomparable music was created by an intelligence second to none and equalled by very few. In a simple Prelude or Minuet - such as this devoted family man wrote for his children - he sets forth the beauty of logic and order on many levels. But Bach's intelligence was matched by a touching personal humility, leaving his genius open to the highest inspiration. The personal, spiritual message shining through every phrase of his music can be absorbed by the very youngest of us and treasured throughout a lifetime. Artists include the Moscow Chamber Orchestra under conductor Constantine Orbelian; guitarist Paul Galbraith; the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet; pianist Carol Rosenberger; flutist Eugenia Zukerman with the Shanghai String Quartet; oboist Allan Vogel with harpsichordist Patricia Mabee and gambist Mark Chatfield; cellist Tatiana Veronskaya; violinists Pavel Bereslavtsev and Alexi Strelnikov.
The gentle, intimate voice of a plucked guitar string resembles the human voice in both timbre and range, and this may be why classical guitar music can be especially soothing for baby and parents alike. Even when the music is sprightly, as it is in Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” the inherent warmth of the guitar flows over small ears and rounds out any harsh elements. Baby Needs Guitar is a perfect introduction for a young child to this most popular of musical instruments. It is a wonderful accompaniment to quiet play, reading books or snuggling down in bed with a cherished blanket, stuffed friend or loving caregiver. The music represents some of the most loved melodies of the classical genre, plus a few new gems that are sure to please both the child and adult listener. 18 all-instrumental tracks: Wild Mountain Thyme • Bach: Prelude; Air; Menuet; Prelude; Fugue; Adagio • Tchaikovsky: Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy; Arabian Dance • Debussy: The Girl with the Flaxen Hair • Yradrier: La Paloma • Beethoven: “Moonlight” Sonata, Adagio • Copland: Corral Nocturne • Boccherini: Introduction • Falla: El circulo mágico • Telemann: Adagio • Gomes: Andante • Warlock: Pieds-en-l’air Featuring: Paul Galbraith, 8-string guitar • Angel Romero, guitar Scott Tennant, guitar • Brazilian Guitar Quartet • Los Angeles Guitar Quartet

Galbraith for 8-string guitar Grammy Nominee "[He has brought] revolutionary change to playing the guitar… an amazing clarity and a huge dynamic range I have never before heard from any guitarist." The Times of London Paul Galbraith first won public acclaim in Great Britain when at the age of 17 his performance at the Segovia International Guitar Competition won him the Silver Medal. Although the classical guitar community has long been familiar with the artistry of Delos recording artist Paul Galbraith, it took the release of his Grammy-nominated 1998 CD Paul Galbraith Plays Bach to catapult him to the critical favorite he is today. And it's not just the critics who celebrate the skill of this remarkable guitarist: Paul's initial CD debuted on the Billboard Classical Chart and remains a sales powerhouse to this day. Delos is proud to offer Paul's next solo release: Paul Galbraith Plays Haydn. Critics and fans were amazed by Paul's deep knowledge and original interpretations of the violin sonatas of J.S. Bach on his previous CD — they'll be equally impressed by the freshness and new insights he brings to Haydn's Piano Sonatas. Paul has been working on transcriptions of these works since his teen-age years (when he used a six-string instrument), and the time that he spent with these pieces is wonderfully evident in this new release. As in his Bach CD, all transcriptions are by Paul, for his eight-string guitar. Complete Contents * Sonata for Piano in A-Flat, Hob. XVI: 46 * Sonata for Piano in B-Flat, Hob. XVI: 2 * Sonata for Piano in F, Hob. XIX: 47 * Sonata for Piano in G Minor, Hob. XVI: 44
The Brazilian Guitar Quartet - Quarteto Brasileiro de Violões - makes its recording debut with Essência do Brasil - Essence of Brazil. The remarkable 8-string guitarist Paul Galbraith, whose 1998 recording of the Bach solo violin suites was nominated for a Grammy and reached #10 on the Billboard chart, has joined three oustanding Brazilian guitarists — the gifted Gloeden brothers, Edelton and Everton, and Tadeu do Amaral — to form the Brazilian Guitar Quartet. "The guitar is the national instrument of Brazil," Galbraith explained during the sessions for this recording. "The level of guitar playing is so high here in Brazil that when you have three of the outstanding Brazilian guitar virtuosi playing with you in a quartet, you have something very special indeed." In fact, Brazilian press has already named this quartet the "dream team" of guitar. "We all have our own styles of playing," continues Galbraith, "and yet when we play together, there is a rich musical blend. On top of that we have the privilege of working with Sérgio Abreu as our producer!"
Music of Debussy and Ravel New arrangements for 8-string guitar Paul Galbraith, 8-string guitar "While working on this project, I've had a particularly clear mental picture of Debussy and Ravel close at hand. It's an odd fact that while knowing full well how autonomous a work of art becomes once it leaves its creator, we nevertheless still tend to feel a strong sense of responsibility towards the person who gave it life in the first place." — Paul Galbraith French Impressions, the long-awaited and eagerly anticipated follow-up to In Every Lake The Moon Shines Full (DE 3236), serves as a tour through the beauty and artistry of these two masters of composition. Galbraith's 8-string guitar interpretations of these Impressionist favorites make for an irresistible recording. Galbraith's guitar, designed in collaboration with the late David Rubio, features two extra strings — one high, one low — in addition to the usual six. This unique sound has opened new and provocative repertoire and can be heard in the artist's groundbreaking transcriptions and recordings of music by Haydn, Bach, and now Debussy and Ravel. program Claude Debussy (1862–1918) Prélude “La fille aux cheveux de lin”(1909) Children’s Corner (Petite Suite) (1905-1908) Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum (2:52) Jimbo’s Lullaby Serenade of the Doll The Snow Is Dancing Little Shepherd Golliwogg’s Cakewalk Page d’album (1915) Ètude “Pour les notes repétées” (1915) Elégie (1915) Maurice Ravel (1875–1937) Pavane pour une infante défunte (1899) A la manière de …
